Loving An Old Dog Changes You

It slows you down
It asks more of you
It teaches you patience, presence, and responsibility

And sometimes… it can feel overwhelming

Life With Old Dogs exists to support both ends of that experience — the practical and the emotional.

This is not a space for quick fixes or trendy advice. It is a space for real guidance rooted in lived experience.

About Dawn

I am the founder of Woody’s Place Senior German Shepherd Sanctuary, a true sanctuary providing lifelong care homeless German Shepherds eight years and older — most arriving at ten or beyond.

For more than a 15 years, I have lived the daily reality of older dog care:

The reusable diapers.
The orthopedic beds.
The medication schedules.
The short, frequent walks, five, six, seven times a day and more.

Life With Old Dogs was born because I realized something:

People love their aging dogs deeply… but they often feel alone and unsure.

This platform — and the School — exist so you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. Whether you are caring for an aging dog at home or a sanctuary president carrying the weight of impossible decisions, this is a place for practical information, ethical clarity, and steady support.
